Save your diet cheat day for this Friday because National Donut Day comes with some delicious freebies. Whether you call them donuts or doughnuts channel your inner Homer Simpson and take a bite out of these sweet deals.
Established in 1938 by the Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day gained increased popularity over the past decade in large part thanks to the cross promotions from major international chains like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. You can expect the event to attract huge crowds and why not when the donuts are free.
I put together a list of deals and locations that New Yorkers and Brooklynites shouldn’t miss.
2 Penn Plaza – Amtrak Level
New York, NY
Free donut of any variety no purchase necessary at participating locations. With only one NYC location this will be a very very crowded place.
ENTENMANN’S BAKERY in partnership with Salvation Army
Madison Square Park (Southwest Corner)

This is a very fun and exciting offer from this brand new Italian cafe. Chef Gabriele Corcos will be serving free espresso flavored donut bites along with a selection of Lavazza beverages (espresso, espresso macchiato, espresso nuvola, cappuccino, caffe latte). Corcos, who is also a host of popular Cooking Channel show “Extra Virgin” will be on hand personally along with his wife and co-host, actress Debi Mazar. This is a free event but you should RSVP with Evenbrite here.

Complimentary donut of any variety with a purchase of any beverage. While not exactly free it is still a nice deal and should be a less crowded alternative thanks to the huge amount of NYC locations.
