ZEGNA AND AGNONA SAMPLE SALE
21 Dey St.
8:00am – 6:00pm
Ermenegildo Zegna and Agnona double bill sample sale has been taking place at Century 21 Edition since Monday. The venerable Italian fashion house is currently headed by Stefano Pilati (formerly of YSL and Dior). Zegna is a world leader in high quality menswear and is the largest brand of its kind in the world. Originally founded by Francesco Ilorini Mo, Agnona joined the Zegna Group umbrella in 1999. With Pilati at the helm the label aims to become a global brand with its range of luxurious textiles.
The sale initially offered discounts of 60-80% off but considering the very high retail tag I opted to wait. Yesterday I received notice of additional markdowns of up to 90%. I knew I had to check it out immediately. Well that was the plan until I heard about extra discounts at Bodum 😉 More on that here
After my not so little detour I arrived at Century 21. Located on the first floor, Agnona was indeed 90% off retail but still a bit expensive for my taste. With the original prices well into the thousands there really wasn’t much under $100. The shoes would have been the best deal but there were less than 10 pairs left and most sizes were 40 with a lone pair of size 35 booties. There were some $30-$40 belts but the styles were far too boring and impractical. Majority of the ready to wear styles are really geared towards a conservative office environment. My friend “E” who works in finance would relish this sale but as for me, I simply couldn’t justify the price tags. I was told additional discounts weren’t expected but you never know.
Moving upstairs to menswear the prices were far more accessible. Both Zegna and ZZegna labels were additional 30% off with a good selection of shirts, trousers, jackets, outerwear, and accessories. The ties were down to $35 and still had a good selection available. Cuff links were now $71-$95. If you need those last minute Fathers Day gifts then run over first thing in the morning.
