Misha Nonoo Sample Sale

UPDATE: Sale has been extended! Extra markdowns expected as well.
Thursday, July 2 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Misha Nanoo‘s summer sample sale started this Monday and I’ve been fortunate to attend on the first day (sorry for the very delayed report).

Held inside designer’s Garment District showroom the sale more than lived up to my lofty expectations. Misha Nonoo is part of the CFDA fashion incubator program that is designed to help and support the next generation of New York City fashion designers. Her creations focus on refining classic silhouettes through contemporary arts and culture. This Spring season Misha has collaborated with artist Dustin Yellin to incorporate his prints into her collection.
Having attended her sample sales in the past, from when she was still based in SoHo to last winter when she relocated her showroom to the Garment District, I never left without buying one or two or three 😉 dresses. Last year was particularly special because Misha’s  mother personally hosted the sale. It was such a pleasure being able to talk to her and hear her gush about Misha’s designs and tremendous talent, as well as offer styling tips and fitting advice to each customer. You rarely receive this level of personal attention from an SA, let alone an actual fashion designer or her mom! 😉 So guess what? This time Misha herself was on hand to welcome shoppers to her sample sale. It was a family affair with mama Nonoo and her adorable pooch, Thacher (spelling?) present as well.

Along the walls of the showroom space were racks of samples and stock with different price points for each category. While the selection was somewhat smaller compared to last winter there were so many beautiful gems on display.
Sample dresses and stock tops and knitwear
Sample dresses $90-$100
$80 worn Manolos in size 42 (I spied a single 37 too) best to skip this section and wait for the next Manolo sample sale

Sample dresses were located along the front “wall” (the curtained off makeshift fitting room) and were priced at $90-$100. All samples were a size 2, that for the most part ran true to size but my advice is to still try things on if you are in the 0-4 range. There were some damages intermixed with the samples so I advise taking a closer look before you commit to a particular piece. I fell in love with a gorgeous silk dress but alas there was a huge tear in one of the silk panels. The staff is very accommodating and are willing to work with you on the price concerning the damaged items.
I was very happy to find the silk organza Jenny skirts ($75) and Allison dresses ($150) among the stock racks. I’ve been eyeing both pieces since they appeared in the resort collection. Sadly the skirts sold out pretty quickly but the dresses were restocked on Tuesday.

The stock racks were located near the entrance and offered a little more variety in terms of size selection. While sizes 0-12 were listed I mostly saw a few 6s and 8s (besides size 2 of course). There were Tomma tee dresses, Tasha maxi dresses, and Sarah shifts inspired by Dustin Yellin’s psychogeographies prints.
Assorted bottoms $70 – $80

Today is the last day of the sample sale and in case you have yet to go I highly suggest attending. On Tuesday I received  word of restocking, although only the stock pieces were refreshed. It is very likely that there will be price reductions as well and I will do my best to keep everyone updated. Remember to follow me on Instagram and Twitter for all the latest news!
Happy shopping 🙂
