Popular e-commerce site, Charm & Chain is currently hosting a sample sale inside their NoHo showroom. Featuring trendy costume jewelry from the likes of Dannijo, Lulu Frost, Alexis Bittar, Lele Sadoughi, Eddie Borgo, Ben Amun, House of Harlow, Kenneth Jay Lane, and more. Discounts range from 20% to 80% off original prices as denoted by colored dots, except for Lele Sadoughi jewelry that was priced from $40 – $350. I saw only maybe 5 or so pieces with the black 80% off sticker while majority of the merchandise was 40% or 60% off. Average prices were well over $50 and in most cases well over $100. Although there were two bargain bins filled with $5 and $10 items. Some of these are damaged with either missing stones or broken locks, while the rest are mostly small earrings that wouldn’t retail for more than $10 anyway. I found a slightly broken Eddie Borgo bracelet in the $5 bin but that was the only relative bargain at the whole sale.
The showroom space was filled with beautiful sparkly jewelry and very friendly staffers but as much as I wanted to like this sale my inner bargainista had to put her hand up. Most of the designers featured at this sale happen to hold their own official sample sales where discounts can be up to and over 90%. Take the incredible Eddie Borgo sample sale for instance, how can I bring myself to pay $150+ for the same kind of cone bracelets that I bought for $5 – $25 only a few months ago. Dannijo hosted a one day sample sale only a day before, with 90% off discounts. I think this sale is really geared towards a busy girl who doesn’t know or doesn’t have time to shop all the individual jewelry designer sample sales. But I honestly can’t justify these hefty price tags, you can even do better at Last Call or Nordsrom Rack.
BOTTOM LINE: Skip this one and just stick to the official sample sales from the aforementioned designers. When you can buy the exact same piece for $5 why pay $150? I should also mention that I am not a big fan of cubic zirconia or big sparkly jewelry in general so take me review with a grain of salt.
