Don’t Miss The Last Day of Raoul Sample Sale

After a near euphoric experience at the Issey Miyake sample sale I headed to the Garment District to check out another sale. Raoul is having their semi-annual sample sale this week and somehow I didn’t get the memo until now. For those unfamiliar with the brand, Raoul is a Singapore-based fashion and leather goods label that is taking Asia by storm. The husband and wife team of Douglas and Odile Benjamin launched Raoul in 2010 with the aim of creating affordable luxury products without compromising on good quality and stylish design.
Thursday is the last day of the sample sale but there was still plenty of merchandise when I stopped by earlier today. Sale organizers are also anticipating additional discounts and restocking in select categories.

As you can glean from the above list, prices were exceptionally good. With the discounts of 85% to 90%+ off suggested retail, there was a large selection of stylish and trendy apparel that will appeal to every bargainista. In fact the prices seemed more in line with the super exclusive employee sample sales instead of your average run of the mill public sale. Skirts, trousers, shorts, sweaters, and short sleeve tops were just $30 while dresses were $50. Sizes ranged from US 2 to 10 (while Raoul makes sizes 0 – 14 I didn’t really see any larger sizes). I spotted many pieces from the Spring/Summer 2015 and even Fall/Winter 2015 collections. The cheapest thing at the sale was a special rack of $15 items, consisting mainly of trousers and a single style of polka dot dress. The styles were less impressive than their counterparts on the regular sample racks.

Bottoms $30
Cuffed shorts $30
Pleated skirt $30
Dress $50
Piper dress $50 (retail $415)
Dress in deconstructed Illusion print
$15 apparel on the right
Silk Polka Dot dress just $15 (originally $395)

Along the back wall was a small selection of shoes and handbags. It’s worth noting that both Raoul shoes and handbags are made in Italy making them  a real steal at these prices. Unfortunately they are pretty picked over at this point, with limited sizing. I only saw two pairs of boots and sandals but there were plenty of heels and glitter styles. Handbags were priced at $150 for the large bags and $80 for smaller styles but again the selection was very limited. I loved Raoul’s unique take on a clutch/wristlet with the Barnett Wrist Bag that sells for $350.

Mesh sandals $60 (retail $295) and Pointed wedges (retail $360)
Sandals and glitter flats $40
Handbags $80 and $150

Near the window were two small racks with leather items ($100), jackets ($50) and very few furs ($500). I was told that on Day 1 of the sale they had $300 fur coats that went like hotcakes. At that price, no wonder!

Tiered fur coat $500
Leather sleeveless shirt $100

Along the opposite wall were floor length gowns at $100 each or 2 for $150. If you are a tall girl in need of a special occasion dress you may want to start at that section first. Short dresses, located opposite the register were $50 with original retail tags of $300 – $450. There were summer appropriate frocks as well as sheaths suitable for the office.

Gowns $100 each or 2 for $150
Sarina gown from Spring/Summer 2015 collection

Accessories selection was comprised of $10 belts and $30 plastic bib necklaces. I also recall seeing some canvas totes underneath the accessories shelf.

Necklace $30

BOTTOM LINE: You need to run to this one! Prices are great and are expected to be slashed even further. Whether shopping for the last days of summer or stocking up on fall merchandise this sale has it all and at amazing discounts to boot.
