Final Markdowns At Elizabeth And James Sample Sale

Sunday, October 25, 2015

My last shopping stop on this busy Saturday was the Elizabeth and James sample sale. Earlier that day major discounts hit the already pretty well priced sale currently taking place at 260 Fifth Avenue. Everything (including true samples) is an extra 50% off! We are talking dirt cheap prices but most of the highly coveted items are already sold out.

I arrived an hour before closing time to find the staff consolidating the remaining stock. First off let's head to the samples rack where you'll find the cheapest but not necessarily the best bargains. As you can imagine things were fairly picked over. Mostly damaged tops and dresses, a few skirts, pants and a couple of jackets. It's possible to maybe find 1 or 2 items but I don't recommend dwelling on the samples. Instead check out what's left in the outerwear department. Unfortunately there were no furs and leather selection was limited. Just two styles and only is small sizes. I had my eye on a black leather jacket with fringe sleeves ($150) but alas all mediums had broken zippers. If you are XS or S you will fare much better. Next to the jackets were suede and leather dresses ($175). The brown sheath dress really caught my eye while the pink leather dresses had a rather unflattering cut. That was it for leathers, if there were skirts/tops/pants they are long gone by now.

The largest stock was from the Textiles collection. Staffers were bringing out stacks and stacks of cotton tees. Jeans could be found along the left wall and in the back of the venue. There was still a huge selection. Tops and blouses were also plentiful with racks stretching the length of the entire room.

BOTTOM LINE: While selection is fairly picked over there are still racks and racks of merchandise that's now an additional 50% off. If you are in the area or don't mind a short commute definitely try to stop by the sale. The summery tops and tees are a good investment for next year.

    1. It's such a great piece for Fall isn't it?

A lot of fashion labels are either based in NY or have a corporate headquarters in the city which is why we're lucky to have all these sample sales. Yet another reason to visit NY!
