Get Ready For The Alexander McQueen Sample Sale

UPDATE: Please read the full report here.

The designer gods have blessed us with a second Alexander McQueen sample sale in two years! What’s the big deal you may wonder? That’s because before last year it was a 5 year gap between the sales. Unlike the previous event, this sale is taking place inside Metropolitan Pavilion but note that it is still being hosted by Soiffer Haskin. This means no kids, babies or strollers. Last event offered shoppers incredible deals on ready to wear and runway couture at up to 90% off retail prices. T-shirts started at $50, pants and skirts were $100, dresses $350, and outerwear $500. Considering the high retail value of the British label favored by Royals and celebs alike these prices were a total steal. Did I mention a large De Manta clutch in blush pink leather was only $150? And people get excited when a small satin version goes on sale at Saks for $300 lol There were also large Heroine bags for $1,000, Brittania clutches for $500-$600. Accessories were truly a bargain bonanza with all enamel bangles priced at just $50 and all scarves at $100. Just make sure to get there early because all the best stuff was gone by mid-afternoon of day one. The diffusion label, McQ sadly was not present (imagine those prices at 90% off!). There were also shoes priced at $150 to $350. Final day markdowns brought down the prices on select categories but not much was left. Check out a few examples of the styles I spotted at last year’s sample sale.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; p = ‘//’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
My pièce de résistance were these Lace-Up Wedges that retailed for $6,195!

I would hope that this sale doesn’t draw queues of epic proportions but after what happened at Hermes and Gucci, I’m calling 6am or bust (please let me be wrong!)Even if the line ends up being small you must also consider the venue being Metropolitan Pavilion. The elevator bottleneck and slow coat check lines mean that it can take 1.5 hours for just 30 people to make it inside. Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram for the latest news and updates. Let us keep our fingers crossed that discounts will be just as good this year and happy shopping 🙂
