By now you guys should be familiar with my love for Asian skincare and particularly Korean beauty products. If you are like me and always on the hunt for a good sale then you’ll be very pleased with events happening this weekend. Club Clio and sister store JKNLEE are both offering savings of up to 50% off on skincare products from Goodal and Dr.G, sheet masks by Soo Ae, Goodal, and Ostia, and of course the cosmetics from Clio and Peripera.
This weekend Club Clio’s Union Square flagship is celebrating a one year anniversary. To honor the occasion the store is hosting various promotions starting with a 50% off sale. Upon my visit last evening I found that the entire store was half off! Yes! Every single product including the coveted skincare lines like Goodal Waterest and Dr.G Revital Enhancer EGF, Hydra Intensive, and more. I met up with Janice, who is the Director of Marketing and New Business Development at Club Clio and is a skincare expert who knows her products inside out. She was kind enough to take some time from her super busy schedule (she’s in the process of bringing Goodal’s Waterest line to Nordstrom and possibly other major department stores) to talk about the current promotion as well as highlight a few specific products. I’m very happy to share with you her recommendations and hope you’ll have a chance to visit this weekend.
Now as far as the sale and promotions are concerned, unfortunately the 50% off everything was only valid on Friday but some deals are meant to run the entire weekend and possibly beyond that. Initially they were supposed to last for several weeks but it seems like the management had a change of heart. While I was there they still have not settled on the exact details of the upcoming promotions. Even Janice was in the dark on whats coming up which is why she suggested that anyone curious simply call the store for the latest details. Phone number and address can be found at the bottom of this post. Sorry guys I really wanted to give you the most up to date info. I was told that most likely there will be buy 1 get 1 for 50% off deals on most products (with certain exclusions like individual sheet masks). There is also a gift with purchase offer (I don’t believe there is a minimum) that includes a Club Clio environmentally friendly reusable shopping tote, Peripera Peri’s Hand Vanilla Moist Cream, The Cure Pure Nature 3 Step Clean Care pack (consisting of cleanser, shampoo/rinse, and body cleanser), and several samples of Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Cleansing Foam and Bubble Peeling. Same offer applies at JKNLEE‘s Chinatown location. At the register I got even more goodies like Soo Ae Potato Collagen Essence Mask and Goodal Waterest Gift Kit!
I was really interested in Goodal’s Waterest Lasting Water Oil. After reading the rave reviews and especially the glowing recommendations by Tracy from Fan Serviced-B I was ready to give it a try. Unfortunately due to the product’s high popularity its currently sold out in stores but Janice instead recommended that I try the Firming Camellia Water Oil ($30). I have combination skin with oily t-zones and very dry cheeks but with the cold winter weather my skin has become excessively dry and red. This product is formulated with micro-fermentedCamellia flower extract to deeply hydrate the skin and deliver both water and lipid based moisture. It also works to improve the skin’s elasticity and minimize the appearance of fine lines. Best of all it is not oily or sticky or heavy and doesn’t feel like you have a layer of grease on your face. I am very excited to add it to my daily routine.

The next product that Janice highlighted was Dr.G Brightening Peeling Gel ($28). I was looking for a new exfoliator and since I have very sensitive skin Janice suggested that I start with the mild gel. I got to try it on my hand and couldn’t believe how gently it was. I literally watched layers of dead skin disappear without redness or irritation. The Peeling Gel is formulated with natural cellulose and soothing anti-inflammatory ingredients like Hollyhock and Honey Extract. It also has brightening properties thanks to Vitamin C and E as well Black Willow. Janice also gave me a bit of a background regarding Dr.G‘s line of skincare. The “G” stands for Gowoonsesang, one of the largest and best known Dermatology practices in Korea. All their products are dermatologist tested and approved in state of the art facilities utilizing the latest cutting edge equipment. Contrary to popular belief it was Dr.G and not Dr. Jart who first created a doctor approvedBB Cream. Dr.G products like pH mists, BB creams, and sunblock have all won best product awards in recent years.

I also got to try products from Dr.G’s Hydra Intensive Line like the Hydra Intensive Cream ($56). Good for dry and combination skin the cream came highly recommended by Janice who uses it herself. The cream contains 6 Moisturizing Factors (NMF) to strengthen skin’s moisture barrier and lock in moisture. Another ingredient is Evening Primrose Oil, which has a high content of rich Gamma Linoleic Acid to intensively nourish the skin. Grape Seed Extract and Biosaccharide Gum protect the skin from environmental stressors. Another Dr.G product that I am excited to try is the Blemish Soothing Ampoule that contains 3 key phytocomplex ingredients that work to reduce redness and soothe sensitive skin: Green Tea, Green Apple, and Green Caviar. I can’t tell you how many times I went in search of an asian beauty product that specifically targets redness only to be told by brand after brand that they don’t have anything like that. I was thrilled when Janice introduced me to the Red-Blemish line. We tried the cream on a few red spots on my hands and I saw an immediate effect but ultimately I decided to go with the ampoule for more intensive results. Of course this needs real testing on my face but so far I’m pretty excited! On the high-end of the spectrum there is also Revital Enhancer EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) premium skincare by Dr.G. A powerful skin regeneration and restoring system delivers anti-aging benefits by boosting fibroblast growth for increased elasticity and improved collagen production.

Since it was pretty late in the evening when I arrived at Union Square there was no time to stop by JKNLEE (they close at 8pm). For those who don’t know, Club Clio and JKNLEE are sister stores and are are owned by the same company. What makes them both different from the other Korean beauty purveyors is that all of the brands that they carry are their own. Basically Clio, Goodal, Peripera, Dr.G, Soo Ae, etc are all one company. This allows for exclusivity on certain products as well as lower base prices since they are not a middle man like say Peach and Lily, Glow Recipe, Cupidrop, and others. This is in no way a knock on the aforementioned companies as I love their offerings and have purchased form all of them in the past, its simply what makes Club Clio unique in US k-beauty market. According to Janice JKNLEE will specialize primarily in sheet masks, many of which you can also see at Club Clio. The new Ostia Peptide Face and Neck sheet masks to which they have exclusive distribution rights are available at both locations. I know some people were curious but despite the fanciful packaging these are plain white masks, no ink drawings like in the photo. Similarly the SOS animal masks do not feature an actual animal print but are named so because of the ingredients that correspond to a particular animal (say like bamboo for pandas).

Finally I snapped a few photos of various cosmetics and beauty products from Clio and Peripera. I have stocked up on many of these in the past so I am slowly working my way through my stashes before the impending expiration dates are due to kick in. Most of these products are only available at Union Square location, JKNLEE has a very small selection of color products (for now its mainly the leftovers from their first sample sale). Below are items with the recently slashed everyday prices. The reason why I mention this is because several employees mentioned that these might be the categories that will offer either buy 1 get 1 free or half off deals.
Clio Kill Cover cushion $40
Clio Kill Cover Ampoule cushion $45
Club Clio mascara
Clio Pro Single eye shadow
