Last Day Discounts At Ports 1961

Today is the final day of Ports 1961 sample sale at Clothingline. In a stark departure from the usual events at the brand’s corporate office, this week’s sale features only womenswear with majority of the stock consisting of dresses and gowns. Earlier this morning the organizers announced that there will be additional discounts of 30% off sale prices.

I had a chance to check out the sale last evening (before the discounts kicked in) and this is what I found. The sale advertised savings of up to 90% off which certainly piqued my curiosity. After all you guys should know by now what are my three favorite words 😉 While there were several pieces that were indeed 90% off, the prices were still fairly high. If you’ve shopped at Starrett-Lehigh then disappointment is sure to abound. Below is the fairly straight forward price list (adjusted for additional 30% off).
Shirts $109 $76.30
Knits $139 $97.30
Pants $99 $69.30
Skirts $119 $83.30
Dresses $199 $139.30
Gowns $499 $349.30
Coats $399 $279.30
Jackets $169 $118.30
Leather $899 $629.30
As I mentioned before the inventory consisted of mostly dresses and gowns with original tags of $1,500 and above. In the dress selection there were lots of gorgeous florals and prints making you wish for the warm spring weather. The venue was packed with racks and racks of dresses with sizes ranging from 0 to 10. Gowns could be found along the left hand side. I spotted lots of metallic and earthen tone silks. There is a dressing room with a 10 item limit.

Personally I was hoping the coat selection would offer more variety. I’m a big fan of the Canadian label’s feminine yet modern structured looks but sadly the current selection was just dull and boring. Those searching for more season appropriate styles should head towards the back as there was a small but nice selection of knits. Chunky sweaters, wool dresses.

Limited coat selection

Clutches $99 and wallets $49

BOTTOM LINE: Even with additional discounts the sale is still kind of pricy. If you happen to be in the neighborhood and want a head start on Spring shopping then you might be able to find a few standout pieces. Those interested in outerwear or more everyday styles would be better served by skipping this sale.
