Update Your Office Look At The Elie Tahari Sample Sale

UPDATE: Now 80% off original prices!

This week’s Elie Tahari sample sale affords a perfect opportunity to upgrade your tired 9 to 5 look. From classic clean silhouettes and Spring worthy pastels to the traditional blacks and greys the selection offers some major work appropriate staples. Casual and everyday styles also abound especially if you’re in search of transitional outerwear and knitwear.

The sale takes place inside Century 21 Edition and spans both floors of the venue. Unlike the previous warehouse sales at the designer’s Midtown showroom this event is a much calmer, less hectic experience. If you’ve ever shopped the warehouse during lunch or after work you’ll know what I mean. While the new venue is certainly a more pleasant environment it is much smaller than Tahari’s showroom and thus only offers select apparel. There were no shoes or handbags (aside from the display ones) and the only accessories consisted of a handful of cashmere scarves. Everything is priced at 75% off retail so get ready to do a little bit of math! Prices started around $50 for various tops and bottoms, dreeses $99 and above and outerwear $200-$350. I spotted many pieces from the Spring and Fall ’13 collections as well as outerwear from Fall ’12. There were also some newer pieces mixed in the racks. The sale offered a range of sizes from S to XL and fitting rooms were available on both floors with a four item limit.

Lots of office appropriate looks

Red draped shirts $49.50 (retail $198)
Short sleeve jacket $112 (retail $448)
Silk top $62 (retail $248)
White blazer $112 (retail $448)

Dress $99.50 (retail $398)
Suede fringe skirt
Trousers with laser cut detail $62 (retail $248)
Pants and shorts

For those of you interested in outerwear please head upstairs. There you will find fitted leather jackets, fur-trimmed tweed coats, fur vests, rain coats, trenches, and other styles. There were quite a few racks of sleeves convertible jackets with detachable zipper bottoms. The more colorful Spring/Summer styles can also be found upstairs. There were airy silk blouses, sleeveless tops, printed trousers and skirts, light jackets, and dresses. The sale runs through Friday so I am optimistic regarding additional discounts.

Leather jacket $374.50 (retail $1,498)
Faux fur vest $74.50 (retail $298)
Fur-trimmed coat $249.50 (retail $998)
Outerwear options

Beautiful knits

Hello Spring!

BOTTOM LINE: Ladies, if you work in an office environment than this is a perfect sale for you. While there are some great everyday styles I believe most of what was on offer is better suited as work attire. The current discounts are pretty much on par with the warehouse pricing and I do expect there to be some additional markdowns towards the end of the sale. I will keep you updated as soon as I hear something new.

That leather jacket (which retail $1,498) is marked $279 today (when I went around 10am), and you can take 75% off that, which comes out to be $70!!! Unfortunately, only size L left :-(((((

Hi Julia! Thanks for reading my blog 🙂

Aha! So they didn't change it! I was debating whether I should bring this up or not but yesterday all these jackets were marked $278. Which to be fair is obviously not the retail price 😉 When I got to the register it scanned for $1,498. After about half an hour of various employees trying to come to some sort of consensus I was informed that the $278 price was a mistake and they would fix the tags on all remaining jackets. But for those of us who were already waiting to pay we were allowed to purchase them at that ridiculously cheap price. It's strange they didn't fix it or perhaps great for everyone else who bought one because they have to honor the printed price even if it's a mistake like that. Sorry your size was sold out. I recall seeing only M and L even in the morning.

Aww thank you so much! 🙂 It's really sweet of you to say that. Eddie Borgo's sales are my absolute favorites too and I just wish that more sample sales were as epic.

So sorry they didn't have your size 🙁 Maybe they'll have similar styles at the next warehouse sale.
