Why You Should Run To ASICS Spring Sample Sale

UPDATE: Additional discounts, updated pricelist after the break. Adult shoes now $24.99

This week ASICS is back with their Spring warehouse sale. The Japanese sportswear brand is best known for the award winning running shoes and lucky for you there are lots of kicks at this year’s sample sale. 260’s flagship location once again played host to the ever popular sale and the sneaker selection in particular was more than abundant. Discounts were up to 80% off retail but starting prices on footwear were much lower compared to previous years. You usually had to wait for the last few days of the sale to get this kind of pricing.

I stopped by the sale an hour before closing to find a rather robust line of eager shoppers waiting to get their hands on some bargain fitness gear. Thankfully things were moving quickly and I was inside in under 10 minutes. First thing I noticed was that the layout was quite different this time. Unlike the previous sales in September and November, this year there were way more shoes for men, women, and kids. Men’s sneakers took up the entire left hand side along the wall while ladies should head to the back where they’ll find a huge selection of footwear. There were also tons of children’s sneakers in all sizes, from toddlers to teens. Prices were lower this time as well: all adult shoes were $39.99 while children’s shoes were just $19.99. I’ll let you in on a little secret 😉 the kids sizes will fit ladies up to size 9.5! The styles and color variety among the larger kids sizes (T5-T7) was very limited (mostly the purple Gel-Storm GS) but if you want to save $20 bucks….. The women’s selection certainly had better options especially for sizes 8 and above. I spotted Gel-Fit Nova and Gel-Fit Sana running shoes. Overall the sale offered a full range of sizes from 5 to 12. Men will fare even better with an enormous selection of ASICS signature sneakers like Gel-Craze TR2 and many, many more styles.

Thanks Laura for the updated price list!

Moving on to apparel, I was not particularly impressed with the limited selection of fitness wear. Whatever few capris or compression tights they had at the start are now long gone. Most of the pants and shorts that are left are sizes L/XL and there’s just one tiny rack. If you’re looking for a sports bra ($14.99) then best to move on unless you’re either XS or XL. Outerwear selection consisted of a single rack of rain proof Fujitrail Softshell jackets ($19.99) in limited sizes and some hoodies in mostly yellow or green. Everything else was either tees, tanks or long sleeve tops and a few tennis dresses. Towards the back and near the registers you’ll find various accessories like socks, sports tape, underwear, hats, headbands, calf sleeves, etc. Socks ($4.99) were organized by sizes and included single pack or three pack varieties for the same price. An obvious choice would be to go with the multipacks! The sale runs through Sunday and additional discounts are likely to start on Friday or maybe even later today. Don’t worry I’ll keep you updated 🙂

BOTTOM LINE: This year’s sale is certainly sneaker centric. The prices are better and there’s more to choose from. Ladies, unless you need tees or tanks you should probably skip the apparel section and check out the shoes instead. Guys will have more option when it comes to clothing but again I recommend starting with the shoes. Also don’t forget to check out the kids bins for your little ones or for yourself 😉 Hey, if the shoe fits! Happy shopping 🙂
