For two days only Rebecca Taylor is holding a rare sample sale inside the company’s Garment District showroom. The event kicked off yesterday but I unfortunately was unable to attend. Luckily my friend, N. managed to stop by and share a few photos. Unlike the previous Rebecca Taylor sales at 260, this time all merchandise consisted of original samples primarily in sizes 2 and 6. Prices started at just $10 for damages but for some reason the staffers opted to pull those boxes from the showroom floor. But don’t be too upset because everything else was priced way below retail. Im talking $30 tops, $40 blouses, $50 bottoms and so on. Please refer to the price list below for all the details. My friend was particularly interested in shoes that started at just $20! Rather surprisingly there were also Loeffler Randall shoes for $40. That’s much cheaper than their own sample sale that coincidently enough is happening today as well. Sizes ranged from 36 to 40 but the selection was already beginning to thin out according to N. Fellow blogger Le Hoarder had also stopped by this sale and you can read her report for more details.

If you were waiting for additional markdowns to arrive at Rebecca Minkoff I have some good news as the first round of extra discounts hit yesterday afternoon. Does it mean you should be running there now? My advice is no, wait until the weekend as the pricing and selection this year has been disappointing. I opted to skip the sale once I learned that sample prices have gone up to $75 this year. At previous sales I’ve seen sample bags go for as little as $30-$50. Meanwhile stock prices are in line with previous years and discounts ranging from 55%-70% off retail.
As of yesterday all ready to wear and active apparel was marked down. Among handbags only micro minis are down to $65 and large totes $125.
There are a few other sales today that might be worthy of your attention. If you’re already shopping at Rebecca Taylor then why not check out Seams Lovely sample sale where everything will be under $15. The brand new contemporary label that makes trendy bra tops is hosting their first ever sale.
Elsewhere Shelly & Renee are having what they call a “blowout” last day of their couture gown sample sale. According to the organizers prices will range from $25-$250 and there will also be special prices if you can fit everything into one bag. Again if you’re in Midtown today then why not drop by?
Finally there is also a Moschino sample sale inside their parent company’s showroom. I expect the extra long lines to have died down by now but prices are likely to remain fairly high. Best bet here would be accessories and shoes while apparel is still likely to be far too expensive.
