Back To The ASICS!

UPDATE: Further reductions, adult sneakers $24.99. Now up to extra 25% off!

Good news for anyone looking to stock up on fitness and athletic gear. ASICS summer warehouse sale is set to officially open to the public Tuesday morning. I checked out the Friends & Family preview last evening and am happy to report that pricing has not changed since the brand’s last sample sale. All clothing was priced $30 or less with plenty to choose for men, women, and kids.

By now you guys should be familiar with 260’s floor layout. Men’s clothing and shoes can be found along the left side of the venue while womenswear is on the right. Women’s sneakers are located in the back, children’s wear and accessories are in the bins near the registers. Let’s start with the footwear which took up half the venue space and was definitely one of the main highlights of the sale. All adult shoes were priced $39.99 (retail $80-$150) and children’s $19.99. If you wear women’s size 6 or smaller I recommended trying on the kids shoes. Hey, $20 savings is nothing to sneeze at! There was a wide assortment of sizes and colors although you may not find every style in every size. I did not spot any of the really high end styles like Gel-Kinsei or Metarun at least not in more popular sizes like 6-8. There were a few limited edition pieces like the LA Marathon sneakers or unisex Onitsuka Tiger slip-ons. For the most part the selection consisted of colorful running or walking sneakers like Gel-Nimbus, Gel-Dominion, Gel-Cumulus, and GT-1000 series. I linked up some of the styles that are available this week in the gallery below:

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
Everything was priced $29.99 or less
Huge selection of men’s sneakers $39.99 sizes 7 to 12+
Women’s sneakers $39.99
Women’s sizes ranged from 5 to 10+
Kid’s sneakers $19.99

Moving on to apparel I immediately headed for the bins with boxed compression tights $24.99 (retail $100). One of the best value deals in clothing. Luckily this time there were more Medium and Large sizes. In previous years it’s usually been limited to XS/S. I did spot a few XS boxes this time as well but no matter your size I advise heading straight for the tights when you go shopping today (provided of course you’re actually in the market for them!). Besides this bin there was also a small rack of pants, predominantly in larger sizes. When it came to bottoms (except shorts) and bra tops sizing definitely skewed larger or tiny. If you wear S/M you might have trouble finding something in the aforementioned categories. Amongst accessories I spotted NYC Marathon branded socks ($4.99), fleece gloves and headgear ($6.99), light tote bags ($9.99), and even shot glasses.
The sale also offered a nice selection of outerwear like windbreakers and light jackets for only $29.99. There were puffer vests in a nice variety of colors. Near the entrance you can find women’s bra tops and sleeveless tees. As always there was a ton of t-shirts and shorts for both ladies and gents. Bright neon colors appeared to dominate the selection but as you begin perusing the racks you’ll spot lots of black and grey options as well. Kid’s apparel on the other hand was pretty limited with only a single rack of black shirts behind the register.
Guys had the added bonus of shopping Onitsuka Tiger apparel including collaboration pieces like the Tokidoki t-shirt (4th photo below). There were lots of fun print tees as well as monochrome basics. I actually found men’s t-shirt selection more exciting compared to women’s and would have totally picked up a few of these for myself had the sizing ran smaller.
There was no dressing room or mirrors so you know the drill: either dress accordingly or familiarize yourself with the sizing. There were a couple of benches for trying on shoes all the way in the back, near the women’s sneaker section.

BOTTOM LINE: The sale is well stocked with athletic apparel and shoes. Prices are good and the selection is wide. Definitely recommend attending if you’re in the market for fitness wear. It’s very likely that there will be additional discounts towards the end of the sale but be aware that certain underrepresented categories (like women’s tights and dresses) can sell out before than.
