The final chapter in my trek through SoHo involved a stop at 260 Sample Sale‘s off-site Wooster street location. Have you ever wished you had another chance to shop one of their sample sales or maybe you were out of town and missed your favorite designer event? Well the folks at 260 occasionally buy leftover stock from the brands who’s sales they hosted. For instance right now you can find women’s apparel and accessories from Vera Wang, Maiyet, Zadig & Voltaire and menswear from John Varvatos and Star USA. There’s also a small selection of Bric’s luggage, ASH and Cynthia Rowley bags, and DL & Co. candle sets. Prices are essentially the same as the final day of these labels’ individual sample sales.
There’s no coat or bag check at this venue but there’s also no fitting room. Along the left wall you’ll find dresses and separates from Vera Wang, Maiyet, Zadig & Voltaire, and a couple of pieces from Costume National. I recognized many items as I was there for the final day of both Maiyet and Vera Wang sales. I even saw the same statement necklaces that I purchased last time although now they are $75 while I paid just $39 (during the buy 10 items get an extra 50% off deal). Still, this is a pretty good deal for a necklace that retails for $1,000. As for the rest of the merchandise prices ranged from $40 shorts and skirts to $125 for leather and outerwear (I didn’t actually see any). I did see a lot of $80 short dresses and especially $100 long dresses/gowns. There were a bunch of Maiyet separates for $50-$75 but knitwear was almost gone. Further back, along the right wall you can find Maiyet and Vera Wang shoes. I was actually rather surprised just how much VW stock there was. Check out the photos below! VW prices were simple: $30 flats and $50 heels/wedges while Maiyet heels and booties were priced at $75.
All the way in the back you’ll find menswear from John Varvatos and Star USA. There was a ton of dark colored shirts ($40-$60), jackets ($105-$125), pants, and suits. There was one rack of leather jackets priced $225-$395 which I found pretty high for a “leftovers” sample sale. As I was leaving I also spotted a few racks of light colorful summer tees near the entrance, before the registers. Among accessories were $15 ties which can be found next to VW jewelry.
A table in the middle of the room held a small selection of handbags by ASH and Cynthia Rowley. Small bags were $35, large $50, and duffle bags $60. There were also trolley suitcases ($85-$175) and duffles ($69-$125) from Bric’s luggage. It’s been awhile since the Italian label had a sample sale so I was eager to to score a new suitcase but found pricing a bit higher than what I’m used to. Finally there were a few Boîte de Pommes and Boîte de Poires candle sets ($25) by DL & Co. While none of these deals were necessarily out of this world it’s good to be aware of what’s going on at this location as well as the other one at 43 Wooster Street.
