It’s the first day of Autumn (or Fall as we’d say here in US) and I’d like to introduce you to a new blog feature: Beauty Reviews
. Once a week I will be bringing you some of my favorite products from the word of makeup and skincare! If you’ve been following me on Instagram
you probably noticed I have been doing small reviews for the last few months but now I want to give you a more in-depth look at what’s been hiding in my bathroom vanity 😉 We start with NoTS 28 Remedy Acne Pore Deep Cleanser
This mild cleanser hydrates the skin while deeply cleansing your pores to remove excess sebum, makeup residue, and other impurities. It works great on acne-prone skin, its suitable for all skin types, and is gentle enough to use everyday. I have occasional mild acne, large pores and my sensitive combination skin gets very oily during hot humid days. While September may be almost over it has been exceptionally hot here in New York City so in other words a perfect time to test this type of cleanser and see how it fares when my skin is at it’s oiliest. NoTS
(stands for Noble Through Skin
) is a Korean based cosmetics company that has recently launched their products in United States, exclusively through Amazon
. I was not familiar with this brand but found their story quite intriguing. A loving mother assembled a team of dedicated professionals and expert scientists to create a line of safe and natural skincare products for her son, who had been diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis.

|Has a medium pearly white texture and you should only use about half of what’s on my arm
The cleanser comes in a very generous 4.8oz tube and you only need a quarter sized amount for a deep clean. It is suited for all skin types and has a somewhat thick pearly white texture which you can see in the above photo. The packaging is fairly basic, just your standard tube, but I do like the pop of orange color. A little something to brighten your bathroom counter 🙂
Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 0.50%
Inactive Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cocamide DEA, Propylene Glycol, Beeswax, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Chloride, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, BHT, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Allium Sativum (Garlic) Bulb Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Betula Alba Juice, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract.
The good news is that this cleanser does not contain any alcohol, fragrance, or dyes and it has not been tested on animals! Some of the main ingredients like Sophora Flavescens Root
and Cantella Asiatica Extract
have been commonly used in traditional Chinese medicines. The not so good news is that certain other ingredients like methylparaben
may give you pause. You can check CosDNA
for a complete safety and sensitivity trigger analysis. For what it’s worth I have sensitive skin with mild rosacea but I did not experience any adverse reactions.
|Let’s see how it does with waterproof makeup and sunscreen
|Lathers really well
The product description states that it should foam and bubble on contact but this was not the case for me. Instead it simply lathered really well. It left my skin feeling squeaky clean but without tightness or dryness you usually get with similar products. I do not have the necessary tools to test the pH but I’m guessing it’s probably higher than a six. I did get some minor tingling and tightness when I accidentally got it on my lips so I’d recommend avoiding sensitive areas. The only thing I disliked was the smell. It had a mild but unpleasant to me scent reminiscent of old vegetable oils. It doesn’t linger but you can definitely smell it the whole time you’re washing your face.
|Great job removing makeup!
As you can see it did a really great job at removing even my waterproof makeup as well as sunscreen. If you look really close there’s still a faint hint from the concealer but otherwise it definitely beat my expectations. My only issue is that I wouldn’t want to use it on my eyes. My eyes are extremely sensitive and react just to water alone (as in I have to wipe them with a towel before I can open them). I’d recommend using it as your second cleanser in the evenings or first cleanser in the morning. Overall I think it’s a good product that does what it’s supposed to but based on the ingredients list I would not consider it safe for sensitive skin.
