UPDATE: Now extra 20% off sale prices.
Starting this Wednesday, Theory is kicking off part one of their semi-annual sample sale with the women’s edition. While the menswear sale is scheduled to take place next week. The event offers savings of up to 70% off current season apparel, including shearling outerwear as well as handbags and accessories. You’ll find tons of office appropriate seasonal looks with many styles still retailing for full price online and in stores.
I was invited to preview the sale yesterday afternoon and let me just tell you what an incredible shopping experience will await you this morning. Previous Theory sample sales have usually taken place inside Chelsea Market where the venue is generally large enough to accommodate the crowds and where you don’t have to elbow your way through the racks yet it does not come close to their newest space on the West Side. The latest venue located at 459 West 14th Street and corner of 10th Avenue offers an incredibly spacious, boutique-like experience. The hosts were still setting up the dressing room during my visit but from the looks of things it’ll be twice the size of certain showrooms that I’ve recently visited 😉 With eight ceiling high mirrors you’ll be sure to admire yourself from every angle and snap those quintessential selfies! I guarantee you that shopping here will be a pleasure but let’s talk about what you’ll actually find at the sale. A few examples below:
Tees $39 | Tops $79 | Pants $99 | Sweaters $109 | Dresses $149 | Jackets/Vests $179 | Skirts $229 | Outerwear $249 | Fur/Shearling Coats $899
Hats $49 | Scarves $89 | Small Bags $149 | Fur Scarves $209 | Large Bags $239
As I’ve mentioned earlier the selection consisted of brand new seasonal apparel and accessories. All items were neatly organized by category and size (0-12). There were racks of pants stretching along the walls, Theory’s signature office friendly jackets and blazers ($179), Laire Winslow
pleated skirts ($229) that are so on-trend for this season, dresses ($149), sweaters and knits ($149), blouses ($79), tees ($39), and of course outerwear ($249), which I found to be the highlight of the event. The color palette certainly skewed towards very dark and muted tones, lots of black, grey, navy, etc. I do need to point out that this isn’t the bargain affair like Clothingline
sales but you’re also not getting some outdated and damaged merchandise. On the right side, closer to the stairs you’ll find two large racks of fur and shearling coats and vests. Everything was priced at $899 with retail values ranging from $1,495 for the white fur vest to $2,895 for a fur-trim black shearling coat. These are definitely investment pieces, especially if you are in the market for coats. To the left of the entrance you’ll find racks of wool coats and light-weight trenches for $249. Further in I found some of the sale’s better bargains like the suede Shezi
moto jackets (retail $895) priced the same ($179) as the regular cotton/poly counterparts. The table in the middle houses a small selection of scarves and hats, more inventory will be added for today’s opening. Taking a few steps up to the second (mid) level will find you looking at a nice selection of handbags like large suede and leather tote bags. To the left is where you’ll find what is bound to be an amazing dressing room. Now if we only had the DVF sample sale in a place like this lol There were no shoes.
BOTTOM LINE: The sale is scheduled to run through Saturday and there is a possibility of additional markdowns. While it’s not a bargain type of sale there were lots of great pieces to add to your Fall/Winter wardrobe. The shearlings make for great investment items and fans of the label should definitely stop by.
