Beauty Review – On Mondays We Go Nude

Hello loves! Sorry I simply could not resist such a click bait title! Well, now that I have your attention let’s take a look at the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème. It is a liquid lipstick with a semi-matte finish that promises up to eight hours of wear time and is available in six nude shades. I was lucky to receive this product as part of Influenster‘s review program. After being a member for over a year I’ve finally gotten my first beauty Vox Box and a luxury one at that! If you have yet to try Influenster, please feel free to use my referral link. It’s free to join!

This product promises plump lips with a satin sheen finish and long lasting color. I have very dry lips so I generally find myself avoiding any and all matte lipsticks. Admittedly without Influenster I may not have even tried this one but I’m sure glad that I did! The lip crème comes in 3.5ml (0.118oz) package and is formulated with Brazilian Cupuaçu (Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed) butter and collagen. It doesn’t contain any parabens, sulphates, or phthalates. The lipstick is manufactured in Italy and can be purchased at Sephora for $28.

Color: 458 Slow Burn which is a combination of blush rose and light beige. It’s highly pigmented for a nude shade which I personally really liked and it looks great on my porcelain skin.
Texture: The formula is very creamy and glides on smoothly. It is neither heavy or sheer and gives a nice full coverage.
Scent: A very mild sweet perfume with a hint of cocoa.
Packaging: It comes in a sleek glossy black bottle with a round window near the base so you can see the color. The wand applicator is very easy to use, there’s no mess, no drippage or stickiness one would usually associate with a lip gloss.
Staying Power: It’s advertised to last up to 8 hours although I found it to be closer to 6. In terms of hydration my lips began to feel dry after only a few hours. For what it’s worth I have ultra dry lips, especially in wintertime. There’s also a bit of transfer but nothing significant. You will have to touch up or reapply after eating.

Ingredients: Polybutene, Diisostearyl Malate, Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxyphenyl Dimethicone, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Isododecane, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Trimethylsiloxsilicate, Methoxy PEG-17/Methoxy PEG-11/HDI Isocyanurate Trimer Crosspolymer, Benzyl Benzoate, Fragrance, Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Lupinus Albus Seed Extract, Tocopherol. May contain (+/-): Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI77492, CI 77499), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985).

Bottom Line: Overall I really enjoyed this product. As I mentioned earlier I’m generally not a fan of matte lipstick or liquid lip gloss but this Lip Crème had a nice balance of hydration and smooth finish. I used to think matte finish meant my lips end up looking like cracked plaster and most glosses feel like a sticky, gooey mess that makes me want to wipe my lips. Thankfully I’ve experienced neither with this product. The biggest negative for me is that my lips start to feel dry after a couple of hours and I need to either use a balm or lip oil on top. Would repurchase in the future.

The lip liner was a bonus mystery product in my Marc Jacobs Beauty Vox Box. I was actually in the market for a good nude lip liner so this was very timely. It’s a twist pencil, meaning you do not need a pencil sharpener and don’t have to worry about eventually ending up with a tiny little stub of wood. I love how it glides on soft and creamy yet it’s not fragile that you have to worry about breakage. It prevents against feathering and goes great with the above Le Marc lip crème or any other nude lipstick. It is a gel based pencil infused with collagen and is manufactured in Korea. It weighs 0.5g (0.01oz) and is available at Sephora for $24.

Color: 304 Prim(rose) a rosy neutral brown shade that’s very rich and pigmented.
Texture: Smooth, gel based, and glides on like butter!
Scent: No discernible scent.
Packaging: A long silver pencil that you twist to release. The base has a color strip that matches the pencil’s shade.
Staying Power: Last up to 8 hours or even longer.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasilaxone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Mica, Polyethylene, Ceresin, Isododecane, Candelilla Cera/Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax/Cire De Candelilla, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Dimethicone, Methicone, Collagen. May contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140).

Bottom Line: This is probably my favorite lip liner yet! The gel texture makes it glide on so smoothly. It doesn’t feel like I’m torturing my lips with a sharp lead based #2 pencil lol It helps prevent feathering that you get with certain lipsticks and the shade is versatile enough to work with many different shades. It is rather pricy for a pencil but considering how long it will last (with moderate use) it’s a worthy investment. Would definitely repurchase probably even in several other colors.
