Happy Sunday loves! It’s been a slow start to the 2017 sample sale season but this weekend we had our first taste of a real bargain affair. New York based footwear designer, Ivy Kirzhner, held her first-ever sample sale where prices started at just $15. Located inside the designer’s West Village flagship store with its eclectic decor and friendly staff, the event was must shop. The sale definitely lived up to the billing by offering original samples at bargain prices as well as highly discounted overstock.
I dropped by Friday afternoon to find a quiet and spacious venue where for almost an hour I had the place all to myself. I took advantage of the rare opportunity to try on as many samples as I could and the staffers were extremely helpful with locating specific styles and sizes. You know how I love a good bargain so needless to say my first stop were the sample bins. Sample shoes were priced at either $15, $30, or $45 while sample boots were only $75 representing savings of well over 90% off retail. Among the $15 samples I saw mainly basic styles like wedge sandals and flats by Saint & Libertine, Ivy Kirzhner’s sister label. The best finds were inside the $30 bin where I found laser cut sandals such as Barcelona laser cut sandals
(retail $460), Intrepid cut-out gladiator flat sandals
(retail $450), and Seahorse flat sandals
(retail $375). For sneakers and tall gladiator sandals check out the $45 bin. There you’ll find Cannes tall leather laser cut boots
(retail $519), Castille snake embossed lace-up sandals
(retail $530), and Lunar high top sneakers
(retail $650). Sample sizes were available in 7-7.5 but several styles ran larger. My friend and fellow blogger, The Fashion Sherlock, scored a couple of amazing sandals among the aforementioned samples even though she’s a size 8.5. Sizes 6 and 9+ will need to stick to the overstock selection where prices were pretty great as well. Prices started at $65 for flat sandals and loafers, $75 for sneakers, $95 for gladiators and high tops, along with $120 for tall boots. In the middle of the showroom you’ll find a table with Ivy Kirzhner’s most popular styles like Starlite booties
, Starstruck boots
, Stardust tall boots
, and Lightning pumps
. All the footwear on the table was discounted 50% off retail making the average price around $350-$375.
The sale also featured handbags by Emm Kuo
. The selection was on par with Kuo’s own sample sales and featured mother of pearl minaudieres, fur-trimmed clutches, and leather fringed bags. Prices ranged from $90-$300. While I did not attend the brand’s last sample sale I do believe that these prices were lower than what you’ll find at Emm Kuo’s own sales so you might want to take advantage of this opportunity if you’re in the market for clutches.
: This is definitely a sale that’s not to be missed. The prices are low, discounts well over 90% off retail, and a great selection to boot! The event runs through
Friday. I was told that there would be no restocking and I do not expect any additional markdowns.
