Frames For All At MODO Sample Sale

Derek Lam sunglasses

The temperatures are rising and Summer is just around the corner. Perfect time to stock up on some quality bargain sunglasses and if you are a fellow glasses wearer like myself, you’ll also want to check out the wide selection of optical frames. Modo‘s three day sample sale is running through Thursday. The sale features sunglasses and optical frames from Modo, Eco, Derek Lam, and 7 For All Mankind. The savings start at 70% off retail but prices for select categories have gone up since their last sample sale.

Modo designs and manufactures optical frames for major designers like Derek Lam as well as their own eponymous label and environmentally friendly, Eco. Their paper thin titanium frames are particularly popular due to the innovative lightweight design. In the past Modo has also designed eyewear for Phillip Lim and Jason Wu but sadly those partnerships have since ended. This sale has always been one of my own personal favorites so I can’t say that I wasn’t a bit disappointed with the price increase. All Derek Lam and Modo paper thin frames have gone up to $35 while Eco remains at $20. These are still good prices but certainly not what were used to. The sale is CASH ONLY and it’s unlikely there would be any additional markdowns. Tomorrow is your last day to shop.

Do you mean Eco's are at $20 per pair?

Also, the Derek Lam 10 Crosby line is also only $20. Only the "Derek Lam" line is $35.

So sad it went up to $35. I guess this sale is slipping (way) down my "favorite" list. 🙁

Yes! Thanks for the correction Sonata 🙂 I meant to write $20 but mistyped. Fixed now 🙂 I was there for just a few minutes and missed the 10 Crosby frames. It's pretty disappointing to see the price increase and they keep losing big collaborations like Jason Wu and Phillip Lim.

The 10Crosby line has been discontinued. They were not bad with spring hinges. But Made in China.

Are there any other semi annual sample sales that have designer sunnies for $20 that I can wait for?

Hi Seton! This used to be the best and cheapest sample sale for quality discounted eyewear. There is a B.Base sample sale where sunglasses start at $5 but these are very budget made in China frames. They design and manufacture glasses for Forever 21, American Eagle, etc. I've reviewed their sales before here on the blog. Nordstrom Rack and Century 21 clearance would be good options as well.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I recently bought some prada sunnies at NR bc I had to have them. It was still $100 tho. I love M. Fredericks and Selima Optics and have been to their sales but again, the sale prices were $100.

All other sunglasses sample sales are more expensive. I've had luck finding $20 Burberry frames at NR and I've seen many high-end designer sunnies at C21 for under $50 during the end of summer clearance. Too bad Modo is no longer such a bargain.
