Cult British footwear label, Miista, is back for another busy sample sale in the Big Apple. Designed in London and made in Spain these shoes have a die-hard following on both coasts. Miista sales always attract a big crowd and this year was no exception. Their comfortable edgy styles are very popular with the younger college girls who turned out in full force. Shoes were priced from $50 to $150 with sizes starting at 34 and going up to 41. The event runs through Sunday and you should expect daily restocking.
The three day sale kicked off to a very busy start this morning. The tiny venue (with no air conditioning) quickly began to feel like a sauna but this did not deter Miista fanatics from grabbing every shoe that they could. Popular styles like Taissa, Noa, Bernadette, Valerie, and Carina went really fast. Although the staff assured me that they have a good amount of backstock and that there will be restocking throughout the weekend. If you want a crack at better selection then go Saturday or Sunday before opening. Shoes are organized by size with smaller sizes to the right of the entrance and larger ones on the bench near the stairs. There is a mirror but it’s usually very crowded nearby. The sale features many styles from their recent Spring/Summer ‘18 collection. There are also boots and some past season favorites. The only downside is that most shoes are not individually marked. You need to ask the staff for a price check and that can be tough due to crowds and both staffers working the register. Miista shoes generally retail between $240 – $290 with select styles as high as $400 meaning that the sale discounts are around 65% – 70% off retail. I’d say this is a sale for big time fans of the label and a casual bargain shopper probably doesn’t need to make a trip to the Lower East Side.
