The height of summer is usually a quiet time for sample sales, with some venues closing shop until September. This July though has certainly proven to be different. The past few weeks offered some pretty incredible savings on high-end European designer goods and the trend continues with Bottega Veneta. Starting next Tuesday you’ll be able to shop their annual sample sale at Metropolitan Pavilion. The three day affair will offer substantial discounts on men’s and women’s ready to wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, wallets, and other small leather goods. Take a few minutes to catch up on my in-depth reviews of their past sales and get your wallets ready for next week!
The sale opens to the public this Tuesday at noon and runs through Thursday. In the past some of the best deals were found among RTW, especially the runway samples. This year we will have pieces from Bottega Veneta’s Resort ‘18 Collection as well as Spring and Fall ’17 collections. Below are a few promotional photos sent to me directly by the brand and should give you a good idea of the type of merchandise you’ll be able to find. I expect that prices and discounts will be similar to last year where handbags were marked down 50% – 70% off retail and even included classic intrecciato woven leather styles. Sample shoes are usually $100 while stock footwear is closer to $200. Wallets are $150 for small card cases to $300 for large continental styles. Sunglasses are usually $50 and come with their original boxes. Best bargains are in apparel, particularly once the final day markdowns go into effect.
Update #1: I just heard back from Bottega Veneta and unfortunately neither Piazza or City Knot bags (that I linked earlier) will be available at this sale. I have removed the images and updated with the latest ones from the brand. My advice is to wait for another update tomorrow morning when I will know exactly what styles and prices will be on offer.
