Happy Friday my dear fashionistas! Today’s post is my attempt at showcasing more outfit and style looks on the blog as well as highlighting the importance of shopping from your own closet. This season plaid is hotter than ever and while I’ve personally never been a huge fan of trends, plaid is one of those styles that should be a staple in every fashion girl’s closet.
As someone who has amassed an impressive but far too large closet I’m lucky that I can just grab a hanger or pull open a dresser drawer and find something that’s currently in season. Case in point: this post’s plaid outfit look. While these particular photos are from over a year ago I figured that I might as well post them, especially since I’m now rewearing all these pieces. Plus the only travel I’ve done lately was to my dentist’s office and let’s not even talk about the current state of my hair. Much, much better to just flash back to the times when life was a little bit simpler.

Shop your closet!
This is something you’ll be hearing from me a lot and for good reason. Not only will you save money by re-wearing your old outfits but you’ll be helping the environment by keeping clothes out of landfills.

As you can see most of my clothes, shoes, and accessories come from sample sales. When you find things at 80-95% off retail why would you ever shop anywhere else?! The centerpiece of this plaid outfit look is the Anglomania tartan cape. Back when Vivienne Westwood sample sales were held in their midtown showroom discounts could reach as high as 90% off, which is how I ended up paying only $35. This cape is perfect for Fall and transitional weather. The wool will keep you warm and it can be wrapped, fastened, or simply draped in multiple ways.

For a simple casual look I paired the cape with distressed classic blue jeans and a lightweight white sweater. For a dash of luxury I went with a high-end designer handbag. What I love about city bags is how practical they are for daily use. I spent the entire day exploring the park and all my essentials fit inside plus the crossbody strap made it easy to carry. The finishing touch were the matching pink sneakers and green sunglasses.

This Balenciaga bag deserves a post of its own! I will eventually do a review of all my different city bags (yes I have more than one lol also this style is technically called Town but you know what I mean). It’s my go-to travel bag. I can fit a DSLR camera, eyeglasses case, large continental wallet and so much more!

Don’t have a plaid cape of your own? No problem! A plaid shirt, sweater or coat will work just as well. Now if you don’t have anything plaid in your closet you can channel your very own Outlander look by shopping the following deals.
